Hasheem Thabeet- Enough with the Mutombo and Dalembert comparisons. This cat is his own. Good Great coaching could propel him to be much more than just a defensive enforcer. Unless Thabeet has the motivation of Jerome James, then all bets are off.

Ricky Rubio- If Daniel Radcliffe and Steve Nash bred, Rubio would be the result. I hope Rubio ends up in Oklahoma City since he even said he wouldn’t object going there. Rubio will be outstanding in three or four years.

Jordan Hill- Right now it’s tough to say he’ll amount to anything more than a very athletic energy guy. And remember, he’s still rather new to the game. And I have to ask, did he choose basketball or did basketball choose him?

James Harden- Morris Peterson comes to mind when I picture Harden in the NBA. Absolutely none of the Manu Ginobili comparison drivel comes to mind. None at all. Slow foot speed and lack of mid range game will hurt him, I expect maybe a nice 12 year career with a 10 ppg average. Steady but not worth a top 10 pick.

Stephen Curry- Will start many more games than his father did (99) but will not make more All-Star teams (0). I have nothing else to add except to give my condolences to Davidson College.

Demar DeRozan- The fact that Demar already has a solid mid-range game bodes well to what he can further accomplish in his career. He will be a superstar.

Tyreke Evans- If he’s still there at #7, I’ll eat an earwig. He can get his own shot at anytime and has the strength and agility to make splendidly beautiful moves. I’ve never been wrong about a basketball player named Tyreke before. The Thunder would be very wise to select him, provided Rubio is off the board.

Jonny Flynn- I think I first fell in love with Flynn during that UConn-Syracuse marathon in the Big East tourney.  A top 10 NBA point guard when it’s all said and done.

DeJuan Blair- I keep thinking about a longer and a tad more reckless Corliss Williamson when I ponder Blair. His 7’2” inch wingspan is marvelous, but when push comes to shove will he ever be able to start for a quality NBA team? Put me down for a long career and a couple of 6^th man of the year awards, or he could be a Barkley-esque freak. Damn conundrums.

Via Motown String Music- Walter Herrmann might be leaving the NBA for Spain.

-But I’ve heard conflicting reports. Anyways, this is obviously not a big deal for the Pistons, but for the fans, it is.  I have loved the guy from day one and was actually a fan of him back when he played for Charlotte. Walter is definitely an NBA caliber talent, just not the most conventional one, or rather, not what most NBA teams are looking for in a dependable backup. 

- A comment on the Free Press article about the possible departure had me laughing, out loud:  “does this mean there are no more finga rolls from da free throw line?”

-If Walter does in fact depart the NBA I will concoct a poem about him, similar to these I’ve written about past and present NBA ballers. Scratch that, I’m gonna write it anyways.

Need4Sheed- Very neat Alex Acker video from May 21st.  Acker seems like a real down to earth guy and hopefully he can stick in the league for a long time.

I was fighting back the eyelids from shutting throughout the first half, eventually caved into my exhaustion and didn’t wake up until “Law & Order” or whatever the hell they put on TNT late night was on. I had to watch ESPN’s “NBA Fastbreak” just to see the highlights of the Cavs‘ embarrassing series finale implosion and LeBron James classless exit. ”

Third Quarter Collapse- “Dwight Howard stepped up to the plate last night and played, arguably, the best game of his young NBA career – 40 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block. Cleveland had no answer for Superman, as he dominated single-coverage and punished double & triple teams throughout the evening. Truly an epic performance.”
