]]> The Pistons pick at No. 8 and that might not be the best place to be if they truly do want to select Tristan Thompson. The Charlotte Observer is reporting that The Bucks, Charlotte and Kings have a three-way deal in the works that will lead to the Bobcats picking No. 7 with their eyes set on drafting Thompson. If the Cleveland Cavaliers do indeed select Jonas Valanciunas with the fourth overall selection and the Raptors take Bismack Biyombo at No. 5 that greatly limits the Pistons potential targets. More as it comes.

]]> In the latest BS Report with Bill Simmons, Bill talks with ESPN draft guru Chad Ford and if there is one takeaway from the 70-minute conversation it is that the Pistons DO NOT seem prepared to draft Jonas Valanciunas with the No. 8 pick in the NBA draft. While the Lithuanian big man is considered one of the best prospects in the draft and fills the Pistons’ biggest need as a 7-0 tall kid with NBA-caliber body and moves, Ford seemed pretty emphatic that Joe Dumars would not be interested in selecting a player who was going to be stuck overseas for a year. After two years of abysmal basketball it seems like he is antsy to start turning over his roster and wants to bring in someone who can contribute right away with the draft pick.

Look, they want size, the same guys: Kanter, Valanciunas, though I don’t think they’ll take him because he’s not going to be here for a year and I think Joe D. is ready to turn this team around right now. I think Biyombo is in the mix. … I think you’re going to see him start to course correct in a major way this year to the extent that he can.

He also highlights the Pistons’ interest in Tristan Thompson and calls him  a “safer Biyombo.”
