About

Ryan has written about college basketball on a couple of sites and has concluded that he’s much better served to offer insight on the professional ranks instead. Ryan grew up and still resides in the great state of Michigan. His first serious dose of Piston fandom came in the 96/97 season, Doug Collins’ second as head coach. Before that point Ryan loved the Phoenix Suns, mostly because of their gnarly jerseys, but also a little because of Charles Barkley, Kevin Johnson, and Thunder Dan Majerle. But the Pistons officially became Ryan’s favorite franchise forever when Jud Buechler signed with them before the 98/99 strike shortened season (yeah, don’t forget, the Pistons wore teal back then).

One of the highlights of Ryan’s NBA writing venture so far was winning the spring 2009 poetry contest on DrunkIrishHusbands . The 1st place prize was apparently some 90’s Donruss baseball cards. Ryan sort of declined the cards and asked the DIH author if he had any Jujyfruits he wouldn’t mind sending away instead, seeing as he gave away some Mac&Cheese to the 2nd place winner in replacement of whatever the 2nd place prize was. Story has it, Ryan never did received a reply email, or anything in the actual mail for that matter either, but hopes one day he actually gets around to emailing the guy about at least some Mac&Cheese exchanging hands or something.

Ryan would also like to make known that he attends the University of Michigan (as of fall 09) and loves to take long runs on deteriorated and dangerously uneven town sidewalks when he’s not busy talking about himself or his Jud Buechler-esque jump shot.

You can contact Ryan (aka Toasterhands) about anything at torture1and2@yahoo.com.
