Usually trade rumors don’t interest me. These days there are so many information sources, and you could read trade rumors all day. Marc Stein just tweeted one I can’t resist writing a little bit on.
Seriously??? Boozer for Bargnani? As the Pistons writer, I feel like I have to ask if we can throw Charlie V in there. The NBA Blogging community ripped apart the Raptors for going for Rudy Gay’s contract, so I couldn’t imagine what they would say about acquiring Boozer’s contract. I don’t know if a potential trade could confuse me more. If you would have brought this trade up to somebody on Twitter before the rumor, they would have blocked you. Why would Chicago mess with what they have for Bargnani? Why would the Raptors pay Boozer $15+ million the next 3 years? WHY?
Chicago potentially has one of the best 5 chances at the title when Rose comes back. Boozer isn’t great, but Bargnani is definitely worse right now. The only hypothetical situation it would make sense is if D-Rose just recently got hurt. Then I guess they are saving a little bit of money and getting younger. However, I believe a team that could potentially get the 2 seed in the East shouldn’t mess with their formula. I don’t think I can actually make up a scenario where getting Boozer makes sense for Toronto. Boozer doesn’t help make a sudden title push, and Bargnani is 4 years younger. As bad as Bargnani has been, I would have to assume that he will be better at 29 than Boozer at 33. I honestly don’t know why either team does this, so let’s hope it doesn’t happen.
Other news, James White is in the dunk contest. Happy thoughts people, happy thoughts.
