Dribble Drive or Drivel Drive?

If a single day contained 48 hours instead of 24 I might have time to write about some of these.

Who is everybody forgetting about?

Why is everybody forgetting about athletic juggernaut Chris Wilcox?  He seems to be the forgotten man right now. The talk has been about Charlie, Ben, #6 Ben, the rooks, but where’s love for Wilcox?  After all, he is better than Maxiell.

Who everybody should quickly forget about?

Chucky Atkins. It’s the economy’s fault he won’t make the team. Don’t get your hopes up like I am.

I will NOT be surprised if…

  • Summers thoroughly outperforms Daye and fans freak out about how Daye is already a bust.

  • Fans become quite disappointed at Villanueva’s lack of consistency and intensity on the court.  I already know how I’m going to react.

  • Ben Gordon becomes the number one fan favorite no question about it.  He’s already my favorite.

  • Ben Wallace turns all Bo Outlaw on us and shaves all of his hair off and gets all goggle crazy too.

  • Rip or Tay are traded before the first of the new year.

If I had NBA League Pass AND had the time to watch game after game I’d want to see these five teams play the most…

Clips-  Blake Griffin and Baron Davis… plus Steve Novak killing nets from outside.

Lakers-  Sasha Vujacic cut his hair!

Celtics-  Doc Rivers might will implode. I’m gonna love watching it.

Cavs-   How much does Shaq have left?

Thunder-   I’m not entirely enamored with James Harden like many happen to be. So that likely means Harden will become a perennial All-Star.  Having B.J. Mullens on the team doesn’t hurt matters either.

Topics: B.J. Mullens, Rip, Shaq, Vujacic

I can’t understand the hate some people have for Wilcox. I seriously think he’s the key to the season. Potentially a 15-17 and 8-9 guy if given minutes.

To me, it seems like the apprehension / lack of attention is the fact that he’s had one good season and never played for a good team. That said, I share your optimism (although I’d say more like 13-15/7-8, but that’s just a quibble). I also wish he had better shotblocking numbers, though …

Summers thoroughly outperforms Daye and fans freak out about how Daye is already a bust.

Funny, I’ve been thinking the opposite! Realistically, though, I’d expect Daye to be at least half a season away from having any real impact but is nowhere near his ceiling. I’d say the opposite for Summers. He’s more phsysically ready but is much closer to his ceiling.

Fans become quite disappointed at Villanueva’s lack of consistency and intensity on the court. I already know how I’m going to react.

    Ugh …

I’d be happy with 12 and 8 from Wilcox. He is what he is. Decent offense, decent rebounder and energetic/athletic.

  • brgulker

I’d be thrilled with 12 and8 out of Wilcox. … but do we think he’ll get enough minutes consistently to do that?

    @Brgulker

It’s just 2 preseason games but the way Kwame and Ben are playing, maybe not. I’m still under the assumption that Wilcox will be a starter, but that was mostly with the thought that Kwame and Ben wouldn’t play that great. After just two games, they are though. We shall see.

    @ d4lyfe-

Look at the first two opponents, not exactly quality rosters there. Though I wil say Ben Wallace might have a bit more hop in his step than I even previously thought. He could be serviceable for another season granted he stays healthy.

Is 25-30 minutes too much to expect Kuester to give to Wilcox?

  • brgulker

Kuester’s been on record 2-3 times now singing the praises of Kwame and Ben, specifically saying that Ben has a lot more in the tank than people will think.

Personally, I wouldn’t mind starting Kwame AND Ben to set the tone of the game, and then bring CV and BG in around 6-8 minutes into the quarter … I suspect CV and Kwame to start, though.

I mean, Kwame especially has been fantastic. Excellent shooting %, good rebounding, solid defense — it’s all with a grain of salt, but it looks like the young man has made some improvements.
