Billups: A True Leader

AUTHOR: toasterhands | IN: Pistons | COMMENTS: 2 Comments |

Chauncey Billups apparently sees a great deal of promise in fellow Nugget teammate J.R. Smith, so much so that Chauncey is willing to spend the last three weeks of August in Vegas with the often troubled Smith.

From Chris Tomasson at HoopsHype:

“JR’s a work in progress,’’ Billups said. “I’m happy and proud of the progress that he’s made. But the latest thing with the Twitter. That’s immaturity. It’s immature. Those are mistakes that we’ve got to stop him from making. We’ve got to spend some time.’’

Is J.R. receptive enough to heed advice from Chauncey, or will J.R. shrug this off?

Your guess is as good as mine, but J.R. would be wise to take notes.

Interesting to see Billups step in. He has gone from a unwanted draft pick, to an unwanted veteran, to Mr. Big Shot, to the Mentor. You got to love and root for a player like that, no matter what the uniform.
